Ocean Sense is a novel education program that invites communities, educators, and students to discover the ocean through multiple ways of knowing - ocean science, Indigenous knowledge, and data exploration. The core modules, co-created by Ocean Networks Canada and Indigenous community partners, provide curriculum-aligned, experiential learning for middle and high school students. The supplementary materials, resources, and activities are a diverse, inclusive, and accessible collection of formal and informal ocean learning opportunities.
Modules are a complete resource package with lessons and activities.
- Lessons include detailed instructions, background information, supporting resources, and assessment suggestions and are designed for an educator to deliver.
- Activities are the hands-on component of the lesson.
Ocean Sense is funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council PromoScience program.
