Ocean Networks Canada staff offer a number of experiential learning opportunities for youth. ONC’s Ocean Science Symposium and Ship2Shore programs are hosted by ONC staff and create rare opportunities for your classroom to connect directly with ocean science and ocean experts! Science Rendezvous and World Ocean Day are annual, collaborative events where youth can experience a wide variety of activities about science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

ONC’s annual Ocean Science Symposium is a no cost invitation-only event held in various communities across BC which brings an immersive ocean learning experience to middle and high school students. Through activities and interactive sessions, participants learn about potential careers, current research, Indigenous knowledge, science, and technology within the ever-evolving ocean sector.




ONC’s Ship2Shore program oﬀers formal and informal educators, students, and the public the opportunity to connect with ONC during at-sea expeditions. Using video conferencing, participants onshore can connect live with scientists, engineers, and ship crew to discuss ocean science, technology, and life at sea. Ask your questions directly to our experts!

Although expedition times vary year to year, our Ship2Shore interactions typically take place between May and September.

Science Rendezvous is an annual, national celebration of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics), with events for youth held across Canada. Join ONC at [Science Rendezvous Victoria](https://www.sciencerendezvous.ca/event_sites/sciren_victoria/), held at the University of Victoria and Camosun College on the second Saturday each May. ONC offerings include ocean technology demonstrations, interactive activities, and giveaway items!


[World Ocean Day](https://worldoceanday.org/) is held annually on June 8th, and is an international movement to celebrate, connect to, and raise awareness about the ocean! In Canada, celebrations are held across the country, not just on June 8th, but during the week leading up to it as part of [Ocean Week Canada](https://oceanweekcan.ca/). 

ONC supports Ocean Week by being involved with [Ocean Week Victoria](https://www.oceanweekvictoria.ca/) and [Ocean Week Campbell River](https://www.oceanweekcampbellriver.ca/), which are Ocean Week Canada hubs. This includes participating in festivals and other public outreach events. We encourage youth and families to join us for free, public events throughout Ocean Week!
