ONC’s second expedition for 2022 takes place onboard the Canadian Coast Guard Vessel John P. Tully from 26 July—7 August. Our team from ONC and Pelagic Research Services will maintain and install infrastructure and instrumentation at ONC’s underwater cabled NEPTUNE observatory located off the west coast of Vancouver Island. Pelagic’s remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) Odysseus will be diving to depths of up to 2,600 metres, recovering and deploying equipment that enables continuous, open-data to keep flowing from the thousands of sensors in this internet-connected, world leading observatory.
Join us on the live web stream as we visit the abyssal plain region of Cascadia Basin, the wide habitat diversity of Barkley Canyon, and the chimneys of superheated and mineral-rich-fluids of Endeavour hydrothermal vent field.
