#ONCabyss Expedition - Spring 2025
March 18-24, 2025

Update: The Spring 2025 #ONCabyss expedition concluded earlier than expected due to deteriorating offshore weather conditions.

With winds reaching 56 km/h and swells up to 3 metres, the conditions around our NEPTUNE observatory are becoming too dangerous to safely launch the ROV and continue our operations.

Ocean Networks Canada is kicking off the 2025 #ONCabyss season with a 10-day expedition aboard Canpac Marine Services’ vessel Valour scheduled to begin March 18, weather dependent.

During this expedition, ONC and Canpac Marine Services will be servicing the Victoria Experimental Network Under the Sea (VENUS) observatory in the Salish Sea and the North East Pacific Time-series Undersea Networked Experiments (NEPTUNE) observatory, off the west coast of Vancouver Island.
